Nomination Process
Nominees for the Photo of the Month are
selected from the regular posts throughout the month. There is nothing special you need to do for
your picture to be considered for nomination.
Nominees are selected based on the following set of criteria.
- High number of likes
- Quality of the picture
- How it represents the mission of this group
Voting
- Album of nominees will be posted 3 days before the end of month
- Voting begins immediately and closes at 5pm PST on the last day of the month
- Voting is done simply by liking the picture, and voters can vote for as many nominees as they like
- Since this is a public group, people from outside the group can and will be encouraged to vote
Eligibility
- Only one picture per member can enter on any given month
- Picture must be the original taken by the member
- Past winners will not be eligible to reenter for the rest of the calendar year
the Photo of the Month goes to...
- Picture with the highest number of likes will be declared the Photo of the Month (all reactions will be counted equally as "like")
- In the event of tie, the Monthly Contest Committee will cast a tie breaking vote
- The Monthly Contest Committee will contact the winner and arrange to mail the prize
- Prize can only be shipped to an address within the US. International winner can choose to have the prize shipped to an address within the US, give the prize to the second place winner, or simply settle for the bragging rights.

The HWD Photo of the Month Contest
Committee members are Miriam Hughes and Ichiro Kubota. Feel free
to PM or tag us with your questions about the contest. Committee members
and their pups are not eligible for nomination and will abstain from voting to
protect the integrity of the contest.
Feel free to share the album on your personal page and ask your friends and family to vote for their favorites! If you share a single photo, the “like” on the shared post will not count as vote. To avoid confusion we encourage sharing the whole post, album, or link to the album instead. If you are a member of other hiking, dogs, or picture related groups, we encourage you to share the contest album there as well. Please be courteous to the cross-posting policy of that group when you do so.
Be sure to like your favorite photos, you never know when your pup could be nominated!!
